Where We've Been

Route 66 received its World Premiere at the Depot Theatre in the summer of 2013 in a production that critics praised as “a refreshing mix of nostalgia about the old cross-country highway and a poignant love story with some wonderful featured players whose vocal and comedic talents shine” and “a wonderfully uplifting evening!” Route 66 has also been seen at the Village Theater Annual Festival of New Musicals (birthplace of Next to Normal and Million Dollar Quartet and It Should Have Been You), the Stamford Center for the Arts, Manhattan’s N.E.W. Musicals series and the Kansas City Crossroads Festival of New Musicals, where it was hailed as “a joyful experience!”

How It Went

“Route 66 features catchy story-songs and clever down-home lyrics that move to the rhythm of America. The show had a wonderful cast of characters!”

“It’s the classic ‘road-movie’ romantic comedy. Route 66 is also about the people who live beyond the reach of the rat race…too-long ignored by the national media but who have fascinating quirks and legacies and wonderful stories to tell.”

“We were thrilled to have it kick off our 35th Anniversary Season and couldn’t have asked for a more joyful, energetic and thoroughly entertaining musical to start the summer. It was one of the best attended shows we have produced with consistently full-houses.”
